DDM to Ring the Bell 108 Times on the Lunar New Year's Eve to Pray for the World

On January 28th at 9:30 pm (UTC+8, local Taiwan time), 2025, Lunar New Year's Eve, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) will hold the "Lunar New Year's Eve Bell Ringing Ceremony" at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education in Taiwan to pray for the world. We welcome the general public to join this event.

The Lotus Bell, a featured treasure of DDM, was inaugurated in December, 2006. It is the first bronze bell in the world to be cast with the entire text of the Lotus Sutra and the Great Compassion Mantra. Traditionally, Buddhist monasteries and temples ring the great bells 108 times on the Lunar New Year's Eve to symbolize the removal of all sentient beings' 108 kinds of afflictions. In 2025, DDM World Center for Buddhist Education sees the 20th anniversary of its founding. Through 108 strikes of the Lotus Bell, DDM prays for all sentient beings and the world while ringing in the Lunar New Year of the Snake.

DDM also cordially invites people who cannot attend the Bell Ringing Ceremony in person to watch the livestream to listen to the sound of the Lotus Bell and pray for the world.
