DDM Abbot President Attended the Memorial Ceremony in Praise of Elderly Ven. Jing Yao
On the morning of February 27th, 2025, Ven. Guo Huei (果暉法師), Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) and Ven. Guo Dong (果東法師), former Abbot President of DDM, led a delegation of more than 30 monastic members and devotees to attend the "Memorial Ceremony in Praise of Elderly Ven. Jing Yao (淨耀長老)" held by the Buddhist Association of the Republic of China (BAROC) at Banqiao Stadium in New Taipei City. In addition to Ven. Guo Huei and Ven. Guo Dong, the leading representatives officiating the ceremony included Elderly Ven. Shin Mau (心茂長老), Vice President of BAROC; Elderly Ven. Zong Xing (宗性長老), Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China, Ven. Hsin Bau (心保和尚), Abbot of Fo Guang Shan; and Ven. Jian Ying (見穎和尚), Abbot of Chung Tai Chan Monastery. Elderly Ven. Jing Yao, who passed away on January 28th, 2025, was the president of BAROC and the chairman of Jinghua Society Cultural Foundation (淨化社會文教基金會), dedicating his life to propagating the Dharma. Ven. Guo Huei paid tribute to Ven. Jing Yao's lifelong dedication to the propagation of Buddhadharma, as well as to the Buddhist community and the society of Taiwan. He noted that it is particularly admirable of Elderly Ven. Jing Yao to commit himself for years to social care by spreading the Dharma to inmates in prisons. He prayed that Elderly Ven. Jing Yao would return to the saha world to fulfill his aspiration of extensively delivering sentient beings. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te also attended the ceremony and awarded Elderly Ven. Jing Yao the national commendation for promoting social service for almost 40 years, inspiring people through his compassionate actions and Dharma propagation, and thereby leaving the world a better place.

Ven. Guo Huei indicated that Elderly Ven. Jing Yao had been supportive of DDM and always venerated DDM founder Master Sheng Yen. Whenever DDM held public large-scale activities, Elderly Ven. Jing Yao always warmheartedly participated in and offered support. Whenever Ven. Jing Yao had eminent guests or visitors from the Buddhist community, he would also take them to DDM World Center for Buddhist Education to introduce DDM's visions to them. Now that Elderly Ven. Jing Yao has passed away, both monastics and laity of DDM are saddened to lose him and wish to commemorate his compassionate demeanors. DDM hopes that Elderly Ven. Jing Yao will soon return to the saha world to turn the Wheel of the Dharma again to benefit all sentient beings.
