300 Devotees in Dharma Drum Mountain Hong Kong Centre Participate in the Samadhi Water Repentance Ceremony

Dharma Drum Mountain Hong Kong Centre held the Compassionate Samadhi Water Repentance Ceremony from April 4 to April 5 during the Qingming Festival*. Approximately 300 devotees took part, engaging in the practice with sincerity and reverence. Even during breaks, participants remained quietly seated, mindfully reciting the Buddha's name in unison, while maintaining a sense of calm and stability in both body and mind.

The presiding Dharma master, Venerable Guo Chi (果器法師), praised the Hong Kong devotees for transforming their minds into a state of clarity while practicing repentance and listening to the Dharma. The Hong Kong Centre noted that the Water Repentance is one of the most widely practiced repentance liturgies in modern Buddhism. It guides practitioners to repent sincerely and vow not to repeat past negative actions. Furthermore, through the text, practitioners are exhorted to give rise to a sense of remorse, repentance, and deep resolve to purify the three karmic obstructions. Participants expressed gratitude to the monastics and the dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes, whose support helped actualize their intentions of gratitude and remembrance during the Qingming Festival.

*Qingming Festival is one of the four major traditional Chinese festivals, a time for honoring ancestors, visiting graves, remembering the departed, and expressing gratitude for familial kindness.
