In Taiwan, Master Sheng Yen promoted Chan Buddhism based on his own experience in guiding Chan practice in America. Accessible, in line with the Buddha's teachings, and safe to practice, his guidance led practitioners to regulate their body, mind, and breath, thereby seeing their “original face” (Buddha-nature). Under his strict guidance, his disciples and students gradually develop a solid foundation for the cultivation of Chan.
