2024 April 27 One-Day Retreat by members of NTU Indonesia Buddhist Society
Letticia WinataIt's a very good event! It helps me to calm myself and distance myself from the daily hecticness.

This my first time experience attending an retreat like this. The variety of meditation techniques introduced me to new perspectives. Because I always avoided meditation thinking meditation was something only people who can do something with 100% focus.

Being a monkey-minded individual, my brain is usually all over the place. It jumps around from one thing to another in just a snap of a finger. Being in the one-day retreat really calms it down. It helped me to focus on myself, my breath. I was also guided to take consciousness of my body by stretching, and also focus on my sole when I walk or run. This retreat reminded me again not to be scared or overwhelmed by my scattered brain, but to embrace it, handle it, and love it. After the retreat, I feel like my brain has reorganized, and before I know it, I am ready to take on my exams the week after."

It's actually a really great opportunity that I can join the One Day Meditation Retreat and I'm grateful to get a chance to join this activity. ✨✨✨ Actually, back when I'm still in Indonesia, I often join this kinds of activities, but since I start my studies in Taiwan I don't get any chances like that again here (because It's just hard to find some monastery/vihara/temple in Taiwan (most of them are only making prayers to the gods with some incense stick). After the retreat, I realize that I've been lacking of practice and I can't focus at much as I am before. It made me realize that I should have routinely practicing it. Before, I've only known about sitting, standing, walking (slowly, gently and be aware of every steps we make), but I've never head of the walking meditation with a as fast as running in a meditation. It quite impressed me and makes me a little tired (as if that meditation can be count as an exercise). The yoga meditation also impressed me and makes all my muscle stretches and relax. I'm quite satisfied with all of it. The food is impressive!!! It suited my taste and brings me inspiration about plant-based processed food as I'm majoring Food Science and encourages me to make innovations on it. Maybe that's all I can say I'm grateful and thankful to everyone!!!
SulviaThe meditation sessions are beneficial for relieving muscle tension and promoting relaxation. Some techniques can be incorporated into daily activities. The food provided by Dharma Drum volunteers is excellent.

The teacher Ven. Guochii is very kind, encouraging, and full of energy.
Ven. hosted the q/a session in a very free-easy-going style. People shared a lot in the open talk from their personal perspectives. The food was delicious and the practice was fun. Shout out also for all committees and volunteers who lent their effort and time to hold such an amazing event.

From this meditation I learned what mindfulness is, for example during slow walking meditation I have to focus on every step I take, including when eating.

I knew about this One Day Meditation Retreat from my friend and decided to join. In the past, I have joined the 7-day retreat with Bali Usada Tapa Brata in Bali, Indonesia, so I expected this retreat to be similar. After joining the retreat, it was in fact quite similar, with the only difference being the fast-walking meditation, which was a new and interesting experience. I am very impressed that there is this kind of retreat in Taiwan, as to provide an alternative community for those who want to practice meditation regardless of their place of residence, myself as an example. I feel very relaxed, calm and mindful of my movements after joining this retreat. It was surely a much needed retreat to relax and unwind from the hectic everyday life, especially to calm down after all the sudden earthquakes that have been happening recently in Taiwan. I am very grateful to Fashi and all volunteers that have provided food and care for us. One feedback is, it would be more comfortable if the room was slightly bigger so our movements and activities can be freer. This retreat is indeed recommended to everyone interested in meditation, with or without prior experience, as you will be guided throughout the process. I am very happy and grateful to have experienced this one-day meditation retreat held by Dharma Drum Mountain. Thank you, Dharma Drum Mountain!

I feel weak but my body and mind very relax after the activity and I feel more positive.
The vegetarian food is delicious. The environment very suitable for meditation.
I feel the meditation practice feels better if we do it together.

It's been a while since I joined a meditation practice camp, but it was a very good opportunity to go back and rehearse my meditation training. The method was quite unique and really helped me regain my confidence in mindfulness. Also, the food was very good, and the environment was very nice for long meditation sessions.
