Calm the Mind; Live A Life in Peace
Attaining Peace of Mind through Practicing the Dharma
When we are uneasy, we can first recite the Buddha or Bodhisattva’s name to calm down, and then identify the cause of our unease, so as to untangle ourselves from emotional knots.
How to Cultivate Peace of Mind
There is no guarantee of security in this world because material conditions and our worldly possessions are unreliable. Therefore, Buddhism teaches us to cultivate peace of mind, for as long as we can calm and stabilize our own mind, our environment will not matter. Peace of mind doesn't lie in any outside person, situation or thing for protection. Instead, we should face reality and maintain a balanced body and mind. As long as we do our part then our mind will be at ease and at peace.
Easy Methods for Calming Our Body and Mind
Buddhism incorporates a variety of practices to help us calm our body and mind, and it all depends on whether we do these practices on a regular basis. In our daily lives, we can spare a certain period of time for regular practice, or, when we don't need to use our brains, recite the Buddha's name, and use Buddhist views to calm our mind.
